The choice to re-imagine Mother Courage and Her Children in a post-apocalyptic future setting offered an interesting opportunity to bring this story to a more modern audience, especially given the amount of both metaphorical and physical war occurring in the world around us. Using elements of the modern world deteriorating due to time and conflict we hope to tell the story of the bleak future of humanity if we continue down our current path. Taking inspiration from the director's comments, and by reshaping the theatrical space, we hope to achieve a grounded but abstract space that pays homage to Bertolt Brecht and his ideas about theatre. This performance was my MFA thesis and received a KCACTF nomination in Scenic Design.
